Former Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes elected mayor of Summerfield

SUMMERFIELD, N.C. — Former Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes was elected mayor of Summerfield in Tuesday night’s municipal elections.

Barnes defeated Danny Nelson with 1,732 votes to Nelson’s 1,138.

Barnes served as Guilford County sheriff for nearly 25 years before he lost in the election last year.
