Monday will be cold and windy, but precipitation will be tapering off east of the Blue Ridge.

In the Piedmont, expect cloudy skies Monday with highs in the mid-40s.  Winds will increase through the day, and will eventually be between 18 and 22 mph in the afternoon.  This will create wind chills in the upper-30s across the Piedmont.

Monday night, winds will become lighter as temperatures drop to around 30 degrees near daybreak.   We may see some isolated flurries overnight, though there will be no accumulation.

The rest of the week will offer increasing sunshine, but below-normal temperatures.  Our normal highs are in the mid-60s.  After Monday, highs will only be in the 50s through Friday.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 2 p.m. Tuesday for Ashe, Watauga and Grayson (Va.) counties.  The mountains will continue to get off-and-on snow showers throughout Monday, especially at elevations above 3000 feet and on westward facing slopes.
