ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — In November our country honors the national mammal, the bison.

The animals once roamed all across North Carolina, but today the North Carolina Zoo is one of the places you can see these animals in the state. 

Shannon Smith explains what happened to the bison and how the Zoo is working to bring wild bison back.
