CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy — Tiger Woods surprised Lindsey Vonn on Monday, showing up for her record breaking win, but he surprised the rest of the world with a missing front tooth.

According to the Golf Channel, Woods’ skeleton mask was initially the topic of conversation, but when an Associated Press photo surfaced of the famous golfer missing a front tooth, questions quickly arose over what happened to it.

On Monday afternoon, Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg released this statement:

“During a crush of photographers at the awards podium, a media member with a shoulder-mounted video camera surged toward the stage, turned and hit Woods in the mouth. Woods’s tooth was knocked out by the incident.”

The Golf Channel reports that the missing front tooth also happened to be Woods’ dead tooth, which had in recent months turned considerably yellow in color.

Woods is scheduled to start his 2015 season in two weeks at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
