WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Another wild night of racing at Bowman Gray Stadium was capped with an upside down racecar being dragged around the track by another.

The night’s final race was a chain race. Two old street cars chained together, the front car has an engine and no brakes and the rear car only has brakes.

Just a couple of laps in as the cars zigged and zagged around the quarter mile oval the 49 car tandem of Jeff Moser and James Riddle.

Riddle in the “caboose” car got taken for a wild ride when his car tipped up on two wheels and was jerked onto its roof.

Moser, driving the lead car, was unaware his partner was upside down behind him and dragged the car on its roof a quarter way around the track before he stopped.

Riddle only suffered a slight road rash on his left forearm. He laughed the incident off with the confidence of a guy who would probably do it again. “It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was kind of scary but everything was alright.”
