More than 1.1 million boys play high school football.

Just over 18,000 earn scholarships to play big time division one football or in the smaller championship sub-division combined.

The number shrinks to just over 1,800for NFL football and that’s adding playing on the active roster and practice squad together.

The odds are extremely low of becoming a professional football player, but that doesn’t stop guys from chasing the dream.

AJ Blue and Terry Shankle were teammates at North Carolina and now the two are workout partners here in the Piedmont.

They are getting ready for Pro Timing Day, the day all 32 NFL teams send scouts to Chapel Hill to evaluate potential draft picks.
