GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- Two high school baseball teams in Guilford County came together Wednesday night to play ball and also fundraise for a player.

Those teams were from Northeast Guilford High School and Northwest Guilford High School.

Wyatt Marini recently transferred from Northwest to Northeast high school.

He played baseball at both schools.

At the end of March, Wyatt had a tumor removed from his brain.

The tumor was the size of a golf ball.

He won't be able to play baseball for at least six months.

His teammates at Northeast wanted to do something to help. Wyatt's family's out-of-pocket medical
expenses are expected to be in the thousands.

When his current team realized they'd be playing Wyatt's old team, Northwest, they decided to dedicate the game to him.

Organizers raised money by collecting donations, selling shirts and donating ticket sales of any Guilford county school athlete wearing a team jersey.
