RALEIGH, N.C. — No. 12 seed Mercer upset No. 3 Duke 78-71 in the second round of NCAA Tournament in Raleigh on Friday.
Fifteen three-pointers were not enough to help Duke escape Raleigh with a win, falling to Mercer at PNC Arena.
The Blue Devils made only three two-point baskets in the second half
Duke lead Mercer 35-34 at halftime. Mercer scored 11 straight points during the late 20-5 run that clinched the biggest victory in school history. It’s the second one-and-done in three years for the third-seeded Blue Devils.
