RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes beat the Washington Capitals 5-2 Monday night to force a game seven in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Hurricanes will play the Capitals on Wednesday at Capital One Arena in Washington, with the winner advancing to the second round to play the New York Islanders.
