ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Raymond Garrison is about to turn 100. But that’s not what makes him so remarkable.

The World War II veteran — wounded twice — retired at age 65 and took up basket making.

He still works on baskets for several hours a day.

He turns 100 on April 28 but his family is throwing him a big party Saturday in Burlington.

Editor’s note: Raymond Garrison is not taking orders for baskets at this time.
