A recent sci-fi horror movie about aliens claims to be based on a “true phenomenon” in North Carolina.

“Alien Abduction” was released in May of this year and focuses on a vacationing family that encounters an alien threat.

It is said to be based on the real-life Brown Mountain Lights phenomenon, a series of ghost lights reported near Brown Mountain.

The movie stars Katherine Sigismund, Corey Eid, Riley Polanski and was directed by Matty Beckerman.

It got a 27 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5.0 out of 10 on Imdb.com.
