FLORIDA CITY, Florida — A monster surprise turned up in a Florida neighborhood during the Fourth of July celebrations.

Residents spotted a massive 12-foot python in a barbecue grill and it took a while to get rid of the unwanted visitor.

While some residents wrangled the reptile, others called 911. But it would be at least a half hour before first responders reached the scene.

Authorities responding to the scene say the python was not someone’s pet, it came from the wild.

Officials said the snake will be turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
