Heart-wrenching video shot from inside a home being destroyed by a tornado has been uploaded to YouTube.

Marc Wells shot the footage as he and his daughter sought cover from the storm in his home’s basement Sunday in Washington, Ill.

Wells wrote in the YouTube description that he and his daughter Josie were not injured, something he is thankful for. The two can be heard frantically trying to stay safe in the video.

The tornado was classified as an EF-4, meaning winds were nearly 200 mph as it shattered the Wells’ home.

The storms that pounded central Illinois on Sunday left six people dead and an estimated 1,500 homes damaged or destroyed.
