SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — Traffic on northbound Interstate 77 near the Virginia state line is congested because of a tractor-trailer wreck, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is warning drivers to find alternate routes after truck hauling lumber caught fire around mile marker seven in Virginia.

No lanes are closed in North Carolina, but the closure in Virginia is causing delays in Surry County. The road may be reopened by 4 p.m.

The NCDOT recommends an alternate route for northbound drivers:

• Take Exit 100, which is N.C. 89, heading north.

• Follow N.C. 89 to U.S. 52 and travel north.

• Take U.S. 52 into Virginia and turn left onto SR-148.
