SURRY COUNTY, N.C. – A woman has died in a Mount Airy house fire reported early Sunday morning, according to Surry County EMS.

Tammy Denise Johnson, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to John Shelton with Surry County Emergency Services.

Shelton said crews responded to the fire at 134 Blackberry Lane at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday after a call by a neighbor. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Bannertown Volunteer Fire Department responded and quickly pulled the victim from the burning mobile home, according to Shelton.

Pilot Knob and the Westfield Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
