BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police have arrested a woman in connection with the murder of a man earlier this month.
Dianna Michelle Haith, 41, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 50-year-old Darrell L. Cash on July 9.
The couple had a history of domestic violence, police said.
Early on July 7, officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 300 block of Apple Street that led to the arrest of Cash. He was charged with assault on a female. After his first court appearance on July 7, he was bonded out of the Alamance County Jail.
On July 9, Burlington firefighters and EMS responded to a call at the same residence on Apple Street regarding an unresponsive subject. Cash was found to be unresponsive and was transported to Alamance Regional Medical Center.
On the morning of July 10, officers learned Cash had died on July 9. An autopsy revealed that Cash had suffered a head injury that was the cause of his death.
Following an investigation, officers determined that Haith assaulted Cash on July 7 by punching him numerous times in the head. During the assault Cash fell from the front yard of his residence into the street and his head struck the pavement.
Haith was placed in the Alamance County Jail under no bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 17.
