GREENSBORO, N.C. — A woman was arrested after police said she hit and killed a motorcyclist with her car Friday night in Greensboro.

Jeannette Chaney, 42, of Greensboro, faces charges in connection to the death of 46-year-old Vernon Brown of Whitsett.

Police said the suspect was driving a 2014 Nissan Sentra and was getting onto Huffine Mill Road from East Wendover Avenue at about 7:15 p.m.

The suspect allegedly failed to yield to the victim who was on a 2000 Suzuki motorcycle headed north on Huffine Mill Road.

Brown was taken to Moses Cone Hospital where he later died from his injuries sustained in the crash, according to police.

The suspect faces various charges including driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license, felony death by vehicle, and failure to yield right of way causing serious bodily injury.

She was placed in the Guilford County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond and has court planned for Tuesday.

The crash remains under investigation. Speed is not considered a factor, according to police.
