STONEVILLE, N.C. — A woman armed with multiple firearms is in custody following a police chase Thursday.
Crystal Ann Riggs Sizemore, 35, is charged with fleeing to elude arrest.
On Thursday afternoon, Detective Ray Joyce executed a traffic stop on David Wayne Sizemore, 48, near Little Ray’s Restaurant. Sizemore told Joyce his wife was having some medical issues and he was on his way home to help her.
Joyce told Sizemore to lead the way to his home so he could render aid to his wife if necessary.
As they were traveling to the home, a red car passed them at a high rate of speed. Sizemore stopped his vehicle and prompted Joyce to stop as well.
Sizemore told Joyce his wife, Crystal Sizemore, was in the red car and that the Department of Social Services was going to take their child away. Sizemore said his wife was very angry and had threatened to go to Stoneville Elementary School where their daughter is a student and shoot someone.
Stoneville Elementary School was placed on lockdown over the potential threat.
Joyce quickly gave chase to Crystal Sizemore. Once Joyce caught up to the car, Sizemore refused to pull over. The chase at times reached speeds of 100 mph.
When Sizemore reached the Stoneville city limits, she finally pulled over.
Sizemore had a .22 caliber rifle, 12 gauge shotgun and ammunition in her vehicle.
She was taken into custody and placed under a $50,000 secured bond.
Additional charges against Sizemore are pending.
