CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman was arrested Thursday night after police say she stole an ambulance from Carolinas Medical Center.

According to WCNC, security cameras captured video of 36-year-old Autumn Prieschl getting behind the wheel of an ambulance around 10 p.m.

Sources told WCNC Prieschl allegedly took the vehicle simply because she needed a ride.

Many people with MEDIC spotted Prieschl standing near the emergency entrance but said they didn’t give it much thought.

Luckily, all MEDIC’s trucks have GPS trackers so police were quickly able to track Prieschl down and stop the ambulance in the 11600 block of Albemarle Road.

A MEDIC spokesman told WCNC that there were 30 trucks covering the Charlotte area at the time so the theft didn’t affect service.

Prieschl was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and trespassing.
