UPDATE: Power restored to almost all Watauga Co. residents

WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. — Power was restored to almost all Blue Ridge Electric customers in the Watauga County area Tuesday.

According to a spokesperson, the outage that affected 5,235 customers was caused by damage to a transmission line.

Officials are keeping an eye on the situation because of the continuing freezing temperatures.

Duke Energy also reported around 673 outages in Wilkes County.

New River Power and Light reported around 100 outages in Boone.
