WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The City of Winston’s annual bulky item collection will begin Monday and continue until Sept. 5.

Sanitation Division crews will go through neighborhoods and collect such items as furniture, mattresses, appliances, grills, carpet, old toys and lawn furniture.

Items that cannot be collected include computer equipment and televisions, building materials, hazardous waste, cement, cars, car parts, stumps, tanks and oil drums, fire wood and yard waste.

Bulky item collection is available for single family residences. Businesses and apartments are not included. Residents will receive a post card to notify them of when the collection will be in their neighborhood.

Items should be on the curb by 6 a.m. on the Monday of collection week. Crews will make only one trip through the neighborhoods.
