WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man is charged with raping a child.

According to police, Francisco Marquez Martinez, 38, was arrested Wednesday on charges including rape of a child and indecent liberties with a child.

Police said they began investigating the allegations on June 24 when they were called to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  Martinez was identified as a suspect in the case in the “preliminary phase” of the investigation, police said.

Detectives learned Martinez had originally been contracted by the alleged victim’s family to provide lawn care services at their home.  The alleged rape occurred on one of the days he was scheduled to work at the home, police said.

Martinez is being held under a $1 million bond.  He has a court appearance slated for Nov. 30.

Police ask that anyone with further information about the case would call Crimestoppers at (336) 727-2800.
