Winston-Salem man, 21, dies in crash after SUV runs light

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – One person has died after an SUV allegedly ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle, according to Winston-Salem police.

Cameron Mark Francis, 21, of Winston-Salem, died from his injuries at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Winston-Salem police said the crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Waughtown and Vargrave streets and involved a Chevrolet Trailblazer and a Toyota Corolla.

The driver of the SUV allegedly ran the red light and crashed into the Corolla, which was driven by the victim, according to the police’s preliminary investigation.

The driver of the SUV is currently being treated at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Three of the victim’s passengers were injured, two of which were treated and released.

The crash is still under investigation. There is no word on any charges.
