WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at 2842 Piedmont Circle early Saturday morning that injured one person and displaced others.

In a press release, WSFD said that heavy smoke was coming from the front of the apartments and it took firefighters about thirty minutes to get the fire under control.

One person suffered a minor burn due to the fire and was treated on the scene, according to WSFD.

Authorities said that the Red Cross assisted two adults and one child that were displaced because of the fire.

After an investigation, the WSFD determined that unattended food on the stove caused the fire.
