WINSTON SALEM, N.C. -- Who doesn't want to save money each week? The question is: where to nab the best deals? Local moms say with a little know how, you can make out like a bandit by buying certain things in bulk at warehouse clubs.

"You can buy a huge thing of bacon for next to nothing, compared to grocery stores," said mom Amanda Story. "Our grocery bill is $50 or $60 each week for our family of five, including diapers."

Story is on the right track according to personal finance experts, that not everything at warehouse clubs is a great deal or the best price, but for some items, you just can't beat it.

"My top best deals at Costco are milk, eggs, meat, especially chicken or steak, snack foods for the kids and vitamins," Story said.

Other moms had their own "best buys at warehouse clubs."

"Fresh produce, for sure. For instance, I eat mangoes every day. Can't get a better deal on mangoes when they're in season," said mom of four, Terri Terlecki.

"Cooking supplies! Anything like vanilla, garlic, any of those things for cooking at home. Definitely a better price," mom of two, Rachel Randell, told us.

Story says she learned another tidbit in her research about where to buy what at the best price. "If you see an asterisk on the sign, that means that product will likely be phased out, so it likely is a great price. Also, if the price ends in 97 cents, that means it's already been marked down."
