A “mysterious sea creature” has washed ashore in Russia and now authorities are trying to figure out what it is.

NBC News reported that the “creature” was recently found washed up on the shore of the Sakhalin Island.

It has been described in news reports as a “mysterious sea creature” with a “furry tail” and a “long dolphin-like beak.”

The Siberian Times has published photos of the unidentified creature. Witnesses reportedly said the carcass is more than twice the size of a human.

“It has fur. It’s unusual. Dolphins do not have any fur,” said marine expert, Nikolay Kim, according to NBC. “According to the characteristic of the skin, it is a rare species. I doubt that it lived in our waters. Most likely, the animal was brought by a warm current.”

The strange mystery is reportedly leaving marine experts puzzled.
