FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — The Piedmont Triad will be under a Code Orange for air quality Friday.
Jason Bodenhamer, with Forsyth County Environmental Assistance and Protection, said the Triad region will be under a Code Orange for air quality from 12 a.m. Friday until 12 a.m. Saturday.
Bodenhamer projects an Air Quality Index of about 133. He said the Triad’s average AQI for this time of year would be around 40.
About 15 wildfires covering more than 46,000 acres of land are burning in western North Carolina and smoke from those fires can contain high levels of air pollution.

Bodenhamer said he expects elevated AQI readings for the early morning hours on Saturday.
