WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A water main break may affect traffic along Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem this evening.

The break happened near Mr. Barbecue, which is located at 1381 Peters Creek Parkway.

There is water across the roadway and it will remain for several hours because the water line supplies the restaurants along that stretch, city utilities officials told FOX8’s Michael Hennessey.

City utility crews are going to wait until about 9 or 10 p.m. to shut off the water so the restaurants can continue to operate.

The city is coordinating salt trucks in an attempt to prevent the water from freezing.

Once the water is shut off, crews will continue to salt the road and begin repairs. The repairs are expected to take about eight hours.
