WALNUT COVE, N.C. — When Walnut Cove residents go to the polls this fall, they will decide more than who should sit on the town board, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
A vote on whether to allow the sale of mixed beverages in town is on the Nov. 3 ballot.
Voters faced this question in a 2007 referendum. The liquor-by-the-drink measure was defeated by a vote of 210 to 103.
Residents will be asked to vote for or against an item “to permit the sale of mixed beverages in hotels, restaurants, private clubs, community theatres, and convention centers.”
Walnut Cove, a town of about 1,400 people, has the only ABC store in Stokes County. Several restaurants in town serve beer and wine, said Town Manager Bobby Miller.
