GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Walmart Neighborhood Market will be built at Quaker Village.

The former Fresh Market building, the vacant Mix Martini Bar Night Club and a portion of several other vacant buildings will be demolished to allow for the new Walmart location.

Construction will begin in April. The store is expected to open by the end of this year.

A similar store opened last year in High Point.

According to the company’s website, “Neighborhood Markets were designed in 1998 as a smaller-footprint option for communities in need of a pharmacy, affordable groceries and merchandise.”

“They are part of a more flexible approach we are taking to communities that includes both the large and small store format,” said William C. Wertz, director of Communications East for Walmart.

The market will offer fresh produce, meat and dairy products, bakery and deli items, household supplies, health and beauty aids and a pharmacy.
