DOBSON, N.C. — Officials said Surry County Animal Control was placed on lockdown for almost three hours after a teenager allegedly called and made violent threats against the staff Friday morning.

The Mount Airy News reported that the 15-year-old boy called and communicated a specific threat of violence to the shelter staff around 11:15 a.m.

Authorities said the facility’s staff was removed from the building during lockdown. Officials said deputies filed a juvenile petition against the teenager.
