JEFFERSON COUNTY, Kentucky — A small child is recovering after her backpack got caught in a school bus door and the bus dragged her at least 100 feet down a road.
WAVE3 reported that it happened on Friday after the unidentified elementary school student got off the bus in Kentucky. Her age was estimated to be about 5 or 6.
It happened in a residential neighborhood as the girl was exiting the bus. Neighbors said it looked like she was dragged a distance “longer than a football field.” Police said she was dragged at least 100 feet.
The driver of a Camero sped up to the bus, blaring the horn, to get the bus to stop.
The young victim had road rash and was taken to the hospital. She is expected to recover.
“It was amazing. I mean, I couldn’t believe it. Her bouncing around in that door all the way down the street,” said one neighbor. “It was bad.” The video footage came from that neighbor’s home.
Jefferson County Public Schools administrators are investigating the incident, according to WAVE3.
