BURLINGTON, N.C. – A Burlington man used a gun to defend himself against multiple suspects who broke into his residence, according to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.

Alamance County deputies were called to 743 Tillman St. shortly before 11:30 p.m. Saturday in reference to a home invasion.

A family was inside the home at the time, but the home invasion ended after one of the victims pulled out a shotgun.

The initial report indicated that a victim within the residence had fired multiple shots at the suspects after they entered the home. Witnesses at the home say they saw three intruders.

Four people have been identified by the Alamance County Sherriff’s office in connection to this incident — however, only three suspects have been charged.

Corey Pitt, 27, and Tyrone Byron Marshall, 19, were charged with first degree burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Both were jailed under $1 million secured bonds.

Elijah Akbar Motley, 19, has been charged with aiding and abetting, first degree burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was also jailed under a $1 million secured bond.

Warrants have been issued on Elijah Dajon Woods for first degree burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon. The warrants have not been issued due to a medical condition, according to deputies.

Marshall and Woods were both treated for gunshot wounds. Pitt was released and placed in jail, while Woods remains in Moses Cone Hospital.

“They need to get a job and stop breaking into people’s houses. And to me, it might be wrong for me to say, but you deserve what you get,” said Angela Russell, a resident of the complex. “Get the Lord in your life.”
