GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man has died and a crash investigation has turned into a homicide case.

At about 1:22 a.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Merritt Drive after a car crashed into a home and injuries were reported.

Police found a man in the vehicle suffering from a possible gunshot wound. The man later died. Police believe the victim was the driver. On Wednesday afternoon, Greensboro police identified the victim as Jaishon Darrell Banks, 36, of Greensboro.

Officers are now investigating the case as a homicide.

Police say the car was significantly damaged, but the home, which was occupied at the time, did not suffer any significant structural damage.
