1 dead after vehicle overturns on US-52 northbound in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- One person was killed after their vehicle overturned and they were ejected on US-52 northbound Tuesday morning.

At about 7:54 a.m., rescue crews responded to a motor vehicle accident on US-52 northbound near the 25th Street exit. Upon arrival, it was determined the single driver sustained heavy injuries.

Police say the vehicle left the roadway and collided with the center median divider. After the initial collision, the vehicle rolled over and came to a stop right-side-up. During the rollover, the driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and sustained the severe injuries.

Mia Monique Anthony, 44, of Winston-Salem, was rushed to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, but succumb to crash-related injuries shortly after her arrival.

US-52 northbound between the Liberty Street exit and the 28th Street entrance ramp was temporarily closed but has since reopened.
