CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been taking a lot of heat recently about the way the school is handling sexual assault cases on campus.
The U.S. Justice Department is investigating and – for the first time – the UNC professors have come together to talk about it.
The incident stems from a complaint filed by three students and a former assistant dean.
The complaint accuses the school of mishandling reports of sexual harassment and sexual violence.
In the meeting, professors talked about the accusations and what they can do – if anything – to address them.
UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp recently e-mailed the entire campus community outlining some changes currently being made. Thorpe is also asking everyone to weigh in on how to improve the university’s policies.
