WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are searching for two suspects who tried robbing a Winston-Salem convenience store at gunpoint.

The incident was reported shortly before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Quality Mart at 4995 Country Club Road.

Police say the first suspect entered the store and unlocked the backdoor before approaching the counter. The second suspect, who was armed with a handgun and had a blue blanket over his face, then entered through the backdoor, approached the counter and demanded money.

The clerk told police the second suspect tried jumping over the counter, but the suspects ran out through the backdoor without obtaining any money. The pair drove away in a gold, “late-model” Cadillac.

The first suspect is described as a black male between the ages of 25 and 28 standing 6’1″ tall and weighing 185 pounds with a muscular build and tattoos on his arms. He was wearing a red and black ball cap and a red T-shirt with tan shorts at the time of the incident.

An ample description for the second suspect was not available.
