GREENVILLE, S.C. — Two men made an unsuspected catch at the lake Monday morning – a 12-foot, 9-inch alligator weighing 603 pounds!

Friends Hunter Neeley and Brad Leigher were participating in a lottery hunt over the weekend when they spotted the monster and decided that catching the huge alligator would be their mission.

Early Monday morning in the lakes of Santee in the Lowcountry, the pair stalked the gator for an hour and a half before they hooked it on a rod and were able to reel the monster in. It then took a bow and arrow and a harpoon to get the gator into the boat, Another group of hunters were around to lend a hand.

Neeley and Leigher said they go every year, but this one is definitely one they will remember.
