WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — People were home when bullets struck a pair of houses in Winston-Salem, according to police.

Tuesday night, police believe a person fired multiple rounds, hitting two houses on the 5300 block of Kingswell Drive.

People were inside, but no one was injured.

“I was asleep and I just heard like boom boom boom boom boom,” said Marke Holland, a man who lives nearby.

Officers found numerous shell casings at the scene.

“It’s putting somebody else’s life in danger,” said Tarail Scales, another neighbor.

Winston Salem’s Violent Firearms Investigation Team is now putting the shell casings it collected into the national integrated ballistic information network. This can quickly connect the evidence to other possible crimes or suspects.

Police believe two dark-colored sedans may be involved in the shooting.

“I just hope they don’t come back,” Scales said.
