Two arrested, one sought after Burlington police chase

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Two men were arrested and another suspect remains at large after police found crack cocaine and marijuana following a police pursuit in Burlington on Sunday.

Deputies attempted to stop a silver 2013 Toyota near the intersection of Vaughn Road and Baldwin Road around 7:15 p.m. Sunday. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and officers initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit reached speeds of 61 mph in a 45 mph zone. During the chase, someone threw something from the car near Saint John Street.

The vehicle slowed near Lincoln Street and three people jumped out of the car. The vehicle was still in motion when it collided with a patrol car, deputies said.

The driver and one passenger were apprehended after a brief foot chase, however a third suspect was not located.

Travis Dewayne Jeffries, 26, of Burlington, and Deonte Xavier Bigelow, 23, of Raleigh, were arrested at the scene.

Police did not provide a description of the third suspect.

Deputies said 18 grams of crack cocaine and 27 grams of marijuana were seized at the scene.

Bigelow and Jeffries face several charges including drug possession, felony speeding to elude and resisting an officer.

Both suspects are being held on bond.
