CROSBY, Texas  — A high school senior in Texas is the envy of his friends after he got a Houston Texans cheerleader to agree to be his prom date.

And it was all thanks to Twitter.

Mike Ramirez said he dreamed up the idea during English class.

So the high school senior and backup varsity football player messaged Caitlyn, a cheerleader for the Houston Texans, asking for a date if he got 10,000 retweets.

Within 24 hours, the 17-year-old exceeded his goal, and true to her word, Caitlyn, 20, is going to the Crosby High School prom.

“I thought it was the sweetest thing ever and I immediately said yes and I confirmed with my coach and the Texans and it took off from there,” Caitlyn said.

And with one viral Tweet, Ramirez says he’s learned one valuable lesson.

“No matter how your dreams seem out of reach — they’re never out of reach, you can’t hit until you swing, so chase your dreams,” he said.
