TRINITY, N.C. — A Trinity family will be able to hold a festival this weekend to honor a husband and father of five who was killed in a car crash in February.

Police say a drunk driver hit and killed Nickey Jacobs on February 20. Jacobs, a father of five, was 37-years-old.

The Jacobs’ family wanted to hold the festival to thank the community for their support, but the Planning and Zoning Board said it didn’t have enough time to approve the permit.

Trinity’s City Council made some changes to its zoning ordinance, which allow the family to hold the festival.

The festival will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. next to Smokey T’s Restaurant on Highway 62.
