GREENSBORO, N.C. — The trial for a man charged in the 2012 deaths of his girlfriend and an unborn child is among the cases set to begin in Guilford County in January, according to the Greensboro News & Record.
Miguel Melo Nolasco, 35, of Greensboro is charged with first-degree murder and murder of an unborn child. He is scheduled to go to trial on Jan. 12 in Guilford County Superior Court. The trial will likely take two weeks, according to court documents.
Nolasco is accused of killing his girlfriend, Glenda “Carol” Carolina Magana-Giron, 25, of Hickory on May 24, 2012.
Nolasco was arrested seven days later and charged with her murder.
He was not indicted on the charge of murder of an unborn child until June 23, 2014. The Guilford County district attorney’s office said it wanted to make sure it was correct before it proceeded with the charge. Magana-Giron was only a few days or weeks into her pregnancy, based on autopsy information, Assistant District Attorney Howard Neumann said.
