WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Dogs from every shape and size are scheduled to attend the first Triad Dog Games this weekend in Reynolda Village.

The fundraising event, presented by The Sergei Foundation, will include a number of competitions like Disc Dogs and Dock Dogs, which compete for distance, height and speed by jumping into a large 27,000 gallon pool of water. The event will also include Doggy “Daches,” a dachshund race in honor of the short-legged, long bodied German breed, and an Agility course.

“The event includes a variety of dog competitions,” said Karen Fullerton, organizer and founder of The Sergei Foundation. “To have all of those events, especially the Dock Dogs and Disc Dogs, together is pretty huge.”

A K9 Hawaiian Pool Party, Pet/Parent Look-a-Like Contest and Rescue Adoption Fair are also scheduled.

Proceeds from the weekend event will help fund The Sergei Foundation that provides veterinary financial assistance to families unable to afford emergency, life-saving care.

“Our mission is to save companion pets lives that may be faced with an emergency injury or illness,” Fullerton said.

The event is scheduled for Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
