Trees block NC 109 in Davidson County

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Highway 109 in Davidson County is closed in both directions due to fallen trees from Tuesday night’s storm.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation currently has barricades up near John Carroll Road.

Crews are working to remove the trees, but in the meantime, drivers are asked to avoid the area.

The best detours are as follows:

  • Motorists traveling South: Make a left on NC-47 and then make a right onto Piedmont School Road. Make a right onto Cranford Road and then a right onto Handy Road. Continue on Handy Road to re-access NC-109.
  • Motorists traveling North: Make a right onto Handy Road and then make a left onto Cranford Road. Make a left onto Piedmont School Road and then a left on NC-47. Continue on NC-47 to re-access NC-109.

The road is expected to be clear around 10 a.m.
