WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem police said a tractor-trailer overturned in a construction zone on U.S. 52 Sunday night.

According to police, the tractor-trailer was headed south in the construction zone on U.S. Highway 52 around 10:30 p.m. when the trailer’s load shifted in a curve, causing the rig to overturn on its side.

The driver, who was identified as Dwayne Pierce of Columbus, Ga., was treated at the scene for minor injuries to his left arm, police said.

No other vehicles were involved, police said.

Officers and DOT officials shut down the southbound lanes of the highway between Akron Drive and 25th Street for about four hours following the accident, police said.

The tractor-trailer is owned by Boyd Brothers Transportation, Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio.
