Update 7:43 a.m. — All lanes of U.S. 52 southbound have reopened in Winston-Salem.
Police still encourage drivers to slow down in that area.
Original story
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — U.S. 52 southbound is closed after a tractor-trailer caught fire.
Both lanes are currently blocked under the East 16th Street Bridge.
The tractor-trailer fire is currently under control but the water used to put the fire out has caused icy road conditions.
Salt trucks are treating the road.
All drivers are asked to use caution in the area.
