Three-time Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart was hospitalized with a back injury he suffered in a non-racing accident while driving an all-terrain vehicle, Stewart-Haas Racing announced Tuesday.
According to Stewart-Haas Racing, Stewart was transported to a hospital following the accident and is currently being evaluated.
Stewart is awake and alert and able to move all extremities, Stewart-Haas Racing said.
According to ESPN, the accident happened on the West Coast but Stewart-Haas Racing would not confirm where or specifically what hospital he was taken to.
Stewart, 44, has announced that 2016 would be his final Sprint Cup season.
