July is National Ice Cream month and Sunday is National Ice Cream Day.

Thirty years ago in 1984, President Ronald Reagan declared July National Ice Cream month.

Reagan also designated the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day.

About nine percent of all the milk produced by U.S. dairy farmers is used to produce ice cream, according to International Dairy Foods Association.

Here are some deals and specials in the area for those who love ice cream:

Baskin Robbins is celebrating National Ice Cream Month throughout July with a free waffle cone upgrade with the purchase of a double scoop of ice cream at participating locations.

There are Baskin Robbins locations in Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem. Check out the Baskin Robbins website for locations.

Monkey Joe’s in Greensboro is offering a discounted admission of $7 and free ice cream cups to kids on Sunday. Click here for more details.

Carvel is celebrating the day with 80 cent soft serve cups and cones. There is Carvels in Charlotte and Blackburg, Va., according to the business’ website.
