YADKINVILLE, N.C. — Authorities said three sisters on their way to school were hospitalized after their car veered off the road and hit a tree.
It happened around 7:10 a.m. Friday near 2908 Courtney Huntsville Road in Yadkinville, according to State Trooper Mendenhall.
Officials said the driver of the Chevy Lumina came into a right-handed curve a little too sharp and over-corrected.
The car then reportedly veered off the road and hit a tree near a cattle field. Authorities said the victims were headed to Forbush High School.
The sisters were all taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and were all conscious and alert at the time, officials said.
Mendenhall said he does not believe there were any factors such as speed or weather involved.
The driver was identified as 17-year-old Payton Irvin of Mocksville.
